Madrid - Retiro Mia Nereida NEREIDES (or Nereids) were fifty Haliad Nymphs or goddesses of the sea. They were the patrons of sailors and fishermen, who came to the aid of men in distress, and goddesses who had in their care the sea's rich bounty. Individually they also represented various facets of the sea, from salty brine, to foam, sand, rocky shores, waves and currents, in addition to the various skills possessed by seamen. The Nereides dwelt with their elderly father Nereus in a silvery cavern at the bottom of the Aegean Sea. The Nereid Thetis was their unofficial leader, and Amphitrite was the queen of the sea. Together with the Tritones they formed the retinue of Poseidon. |

The network of water reservoirs of La Sierra heated by the strong sun in the fresh spring mornings is responsible for huge storm cell. They develop along the morning, many of them reaching the tropopause inversion and then turning in to giant colliflowers clouds... this may well by a paradise or a hell for gliders. |
